Nancy was the 4th of 5 children – Jack, Molly, Dick, Nancy and Peggy – born to Anna (Nance) Wright and Eugene Hughes. Like the rest of the Hughes family, she was raised in Wilkes-Barre and went to school at St. Mary’s.
Skip ahead to her life with Stanley. They met when Bill Burns, a friend who was dating Nancy’s friend, fixed them up.
Stanley grew up in the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre and was raised by his Lithuanian parents, Martha and Matthew Reveata. His father worked in the mines and, because of his broken English, the mining company thought he said Revitt and that’s the name that stuck! Stan was a PFC in the Medical Corp stationed in Texas during WWII. When he was discharged, he used the GI Bill to receive a Chemistry Degree from Scranton University.
He and Nancy got married in 1950 and lived with Nancy’s parents for a short time before moving to Belleville, NJ which was near M&M Candies in Newark. Nancy worked for Westinghouse before their first child, Michael, was born. Stan got a job in the lab at M & M. They lived in an apartment downstairs from her brother, Jack (who also worked at M & M) and his wife, May.
Late in 1957, they moved to Washington, NJ when M & M moved to Hacketstown. By this time they had another child, Bonnie. They bought their home for $13,000 with a $200 down payment that Stan borrowed from M & M. Ten years later, they were blessed with their youngest daughter, Marlene.
Nancy and Stan enjoyed traveling and made frequent trips to Wilkes-Barre to visit their relatives. They never missed the family trips to Wildwood and, after Stan retired, they enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City where they tested their luck in the casinos. Their greatest pleasure was spending time with all their family and they loved being grandparents to their beautiful grandchildren.
They had a great life. Stan passed in 2011 at 88 years old and Nancy passed in 2021 at 91 years old.
